Analytical psychology enjoys a constant and growing interest in Romania, both among psychotherapists and the general public.
The Romanian Jungian community got in contact with the international association since 2005 and was officially recognized as a developing group in 2009. The training of routers (future analysts) began in 2012 and has continued without interruption since then under the guidance of dr. Yehuda Abramovitch, the liaison person designated by the IAAP.
In 2016, at the Kyoto International Congress, the first six Romanian analysts were ratified. In 2019, other ten Romanians completed their training and became analysts at the International Congress in Vienna. In 2020, some of the Romanian analysts decided to leave the RDG to form a separate society. The remaining members continued the work of the group with the support of the IAAP.
The developing group started a new program in 2021 with twelve new routers, and in 2022 another generation of sixteen routers started.
In December 2024, the two generations of routers will have completed the training program, so that in January 2025, a new group of routers will start in the RDG. Twenty-three people will join our community.
Starting with 2025, the RDG will benefit from the appointment of a new liaison person from the IAAP, dr. Guy Perel from Israel.
A complex program of theoretical and practical training was designed for the training of future analysts, including courses, seminars, workshops and group supervision. These monthly activities are held over a three-year period for each generation.
The trainers are both Romanian and international analysts. Thus, routers are exposed to a variety of approaches, experiences and cultural perspectives.
In addition to contributing to the router program of the IAAP, the analysts from the RDG formed a national society – the Romanian Society of Jungian Analysis (SRAJ) – which affiliated to the IAAP in 2022, at the International Congress in Buenos Aires. The objectives of the society are to promote analytical psychology to the general public and in the national psychoanalytic community. In the future, SRAJ wants to obtain the right to be a national society (affiliated with the IAAP) with the right to train Jungian analysts.
